I scurried around this morning and got my chores done then loaded up a few yearlings and hauled them to St Onge to the sale. Of course, they were some of the last ones to sell, but it didn’t seem to make much difference. I sat and wrote down quite a few butcher cows weights.Continue reading “Nice day”

More rain
Got a little this morning. Not a lot, but it all helps. Cindy said it was drizzling and foggy when she left at 4:30. I kept Woody in so I gathered the horses from north of the barn and then rode around the cows. No new calve in the night. Fed some hay to theContinue reading “More rain”
More fun
Got the chores done and then ran over to Punkin Center, horse trailer in tow. I had a flat on the cart so dropped the tire off and met Casey and Rooster for lunch, then we went over to Franks old place and worked some cattle. Mijo is so fat and frisky I can’t hardlyContinue reading “More fun”
Weather coming in….
Pretty calm out there this morning. Got one calf in the night, early morning. O got the horses in and harnessed the team and fed everything in here around the lots and to where they can get in behind the trees for the wind that is supposed to be coming. Also some rain and maybeContinue reading “Weather coming in….”
Calving
Had a new one this morning and two new ones this evening. I putted around this morning, as the wind was blowing so hard I’d decided to wait and feed in the afternoon, as it was supposed to go down, as the afternoon progressed. Ordered some stuff fro leather work and then went to PunkinContinue reading “Calving”
Feeding
We are officially calving I guess. Got the first one this morning. By the way, Gabe, the 7 year old grandson, took most of these pictures.
A beautiful Easter day
Even if the wind did come up. but I’ve seen lots way worse than this. Had a nice crowd at Mass this morning. Had a good visit afterwards. When I got home I saddled up Woody, the old horse. Gonn’a be 21 or 22 and acts like a colt. He had spent the night inContinue reading “A beautiful Easter day”
Whoooooooooo
Sez the wind. Out of the south south east. Trying to blow some rain up. I’ll take it. It’s hitting about 40 to 45 mph, looks like. Really got to screw your hat down to keep it on. I fed the cows about a half mile east of the house o the down wind sideContinue reading “Whoooooooooo”
And the wind blows…….
Still. When I went to catch horses, they had escaped and went nort5h with the others, but were close enough I conned them all into the corral for grain. Decided I might as well just let them all out at night except for one to gather on in the morning. Mijo gets to be wrangleContinue reading “And the wind blows…….”
You’d think it was still March…..
The way the wind is blowing. Coming from the south east so it should blow some rain in , in a day or so. Supposed to, but don’t look like a lot, but that is usually when we get our best rains, when they predict not a lot. Fed and then saddled up Pal andContinue reading “You’d think it was still March…..”
