Haven’t posed for a couple days. Not a lot going on. I did haul the last heifer up to the owner -the one we missed when we shipped them all home- yesterday and also took my 3 little yearling steers to Belle to the sale. I didn’t stay real long at the sale, but theyContinue reading “Hmmmmm….”

Shippin’
‘Tis the season for the reason! Or in other words, the reason we all do what we do. For this day. When you “harvest” the crop. That crop being calves, mostly, in this country, tho’ some raise yearlings, but by and large, most raise cows who have calves, who get sold in the fall, barringContinue reading “Shippin’”
What we been doing
Yesterday the urchins insisted we drive the team so we went down south and picked up the empty lick and mineral barrels and some posts. Then this morning we went over to Bud’s and worked Buck on some sheep. He liked them! 😉 When we got home I hung a gate I had patched up,Continue reading “What we been doing”
Grandkids
Or as I affectionately refer to them, “mini terrorists”, are here. Gus and Sam. Their mother went on a few days trip with her aunt and sister so they will be here until Sunday night or Monday, depending on sanity (mine) or something coming up. There dad is too busy to keep them with himContinue reading “Grandkids”
Dental work
Took a couple horses up to the neighbors to get their teeth floated. Only had to work on one. Sore throat is getting better. Got some antibiotics in town yesterday. Also, been getting some WHINING about a picture of the new dog, Buck. Here’s a picture.
More wind
But supposed to go down this evening and not blow quite so hard tomorrow. I just did some odds and ends this morning and then Dean stopped in and had tea on his way to Punkin Center. I didn’t feel like cooking anything so rode along and Kelli was nice enough to buy us lunch!Continue reading “More wind”
Movin’ heifers
Delbert and Glen came over this morning and we moved the heifers across the road and handier to ship them on Friday. We rode thru’ our pairs and picked up four that should not have been in there. I noticed one of my calves with an ear down, so this afternoon I saddled Beaver andContinue reading “Movin’ heifers”
Dark thirty
When we took off. I met Lyle at his corner and he and his horse jumped in with me and Buck. We got over to the Association and went with the feller who runs it and his wife and nephew and rode west into a small holding pasture and gathered. Cows weren’t real cooperative, butContinue reading “Dark thirty”
More hay
Got another 6 loads in today. Bales weighing about 1100#. Got about 200 tn on hand now so I feel better about winter coming. Cindy helped me swap the bucket on the loader from the wide bucket to the narrow bucket, so it was handier to handle the bales. When we got all done unloadingContinue reading “More hay”
Not as much fun
Went over to Punkin Center and had Norman fix my hub that wouldn’t roll on the trailer that ruined the tire. Brakes in it froze up, so there is no brake assembly in it at the moment, but the hub rolls and that new tire he stuck on there works real well! 😉 Then wentContinue reading “Not as much fun”
