Feeling better

Went in to the doc yesterday and the did some tests and decided what ever was ailing me wasn’t serious, just my gut getting straightened back out and not much they could do,,, I was feeling woozy, so she sent some nose spray home and told me to take sudifed as the wooziness was probably from the ear not getting drained out causing a block in me ear, causing the wooziness… took some spay and some pills last night, went to bed, woke up about 1 and was trying to scratch myself to death from itching, apparently  some of the meds caused a reaction, so i got up and took a steroid I keep on hand for when I do break out in a rash… finally quit itching and slept soundly for the first time in a long time… felt better this morning but could feel the itch coming back so took another pill for it and as the day has been going on I just keep feeling better… not sure why I break out and itch like this, have looked into it but have never found a reason for certain, allergic to something, but not sure what… guess I am just a tender little flower!

The new fuel tank came in so I ran down to Punkin Center and picked it up, ate at the Bull Creek and visited with some neighbors, best I could for not hearing worth a dang… fueled up Teddy and paid my bill at CBH… dang fuel sure eats up a lot of my money… should go to driving my team I guess… as ancy as they act when I feed, they ain’t getting as much work as they need… I wonder if it is possible to have a team that walks on a loose line and trots on a loose line when I want them too….

Up in the 40’s yesterday and today and supposed to stay that way for a spell. I’ll take it! Tate and Chance are supposed to head east to pick up a new used pickup for Tate. Older but sounds like it’s in good shape and the price is right… hopefully Chance and a buddy can get the old fuel tank off and the new one installed this weekend on the tractor… got two more loads of hay to come in and need that tractor for it to unload them… if I’d just win the lottery I could afford to have a better tractor!

Stupid bug!

Or whatever is amiss in my gut… no better today… we had a little excitement yesterday. The Tractor quit the other day, so chance and I were going to change the fuel filter yesterday… we did but couldn’t get it to bleed at the top of the fuel filter… a young neighbor had told of doing this and just putting the air hose from an air compressor on the fuel tank to build up pressure and push the fuel thru’ the lines… evidently we did something wrong as when we tried it, Chance blew the fuel tank up! Man, you should have seen the look on his face when that sucker went! Got diesel fuel all over his pants and clothes… I guess it wasn’t OSHA approved! At least on a cold non metal tank.  I called and have another used one on order, and also the little pump that helps to bleed the air out of the lines.. sure was happy he wasn’t hurt… heck if he gets hurt, who will I get to fix crap around here!

Cindy went along to feed bales today.. broke the other arm on my bale unroller yesterday, so we fed little bales, sure glad I had some on hand… I will have to weld on the arm tomorrow, I just didn’t feel up to it this afternoon.. supposed to go see the Doc on Wednesday.. thankfully it is supposed to warm up for the next several days, so I will feed good tomorrow and the cows will be on their own for Wednesday, unless I get done in time to feed them in the afternoon…

Same old….

Same old.  Cold, but with a warming trend according to weather prognastycaters….  I’ll take it… tractor quit on me yesterday in front of the house, not sure if it’s gelling or just a dirty filter… Chance was supposed to bring a filter wrench home and we are going to swap out filters and see… I ended up feeding with the tam, which I should have done in the first place, but it seems my stomach bug is back… it isn’t feeling right anyway and I am sick of it… I didn’t even go to church last night… maybe feels just a bit better this morning…

Baby, it’s cold outside!

When I went out to feed this morning, it was 10 below and a lite breeze out of the west… the bale unroller held together, so I got them fed but the tip of my middle finger got very cold… sure have never found anything that will keep my hands warm and still be able to use them much, wish I’d have just worn my chopper mitts… bought some high priced gloves this winter that oil filed workers use, what a crock! 40 something thinsulate.. well, evidently I need 100 something tthinsulate!

Still winter

3 maybe 4 inches of light powdery snow out there this morning… Cindy and I went I to watch the bronc riding yesterday, ran a few errands and when we left about 10:30 there was just a hint of snow in the air, lights were all shining way up into the sky… the other day when I went to feed the cows, somehow we hit a bump and snapped off one of the arms to my bale unroller for the team… so I got a piece of pipe to fix it, if I can… the day before a tire rod on the tractor broke, so I got a new one of those, but just fed little square bales with the team today, sure was a lot warmer when I got done than when I started! I have the part for the tractor in the house warming up, it was under a load of pellets last night so didn’t unload them until this morning…  I hope to get both the wagon and the tractor fixed today, supposed to be colder tomorrow and down below zero…. chance for more snow…

Groundhog Day

So they tell me the groundhog saw his shadow… near as I can figure, if he sees his shadow it’s 6 more weeks of winter and if he doesn’t it means 6 and a half more weeks of winter…. depends on what you call spring.. around here, spring is usually more around the first of May… tho’ we can have some pretty nice weather and temps before that, but if springs means no more snow or cold, it really kind of stretches to the first of June… I’ve seen blizzards into May several times… Heck, after last October, I wouldn’t bet we couldn’t have one in July!

I got up early and rode to town with Cindy yesterday morning, dropped her off at work then drove dow to Rapid to meet with one of my pasture guys. we had breakfast, went dow to the Stockshow and just visited until everything opened up. I wandered around the trade show and saw nothing I wanted or could afford… got to visit with several artists at the art show and one  even gave me a couple of pictures she had done of Sam at the Artist Ride from a couple years ago…I was going to get a couple things done, but forgot them town folk businesses often close at noon on Saturday, so I messed that up… hopefully I can get them done on Monday as we are going back for the Bronc Futurity on Monday evening… we have to drive to Wall this evening as one of the guys who ran Wall Drug passed away.. He was only a couple years older than me and it was a shock, as was the passing of Sue Wallis. you might remember me telling of erecting a cairn ads a memorial to Rod McQuery last summer. Sue was his wife and the same age as me… sad… her funeral  was yesterday but I couldn’t attend as the latest grandson, Isaac ( who I call Eshak, after the Hebrew pronunciation of his name) was last night in Custer… Fr Tyler officiated so we had lots of the family gathered… we got home about 9:50 last night… after 4 hours of sleep that was along day… need to go harness up and feed in a bit… supposed to be in the 20’s today and then a cooling period… sure seems like winter is hanging on, but then it is February…  I bet it will be real nice around here come June!

There….

If I did every thing correctly, I should now have this blog in my name, Dennisranch.com… no longer dennisranch.wordpress.com   by doing so, I shouldn’t have any ads show up on here… please let me know if you see any.. also, if i understand, I will be able to post video’s too… so I’ll give it a few days and we will see… feeling better today, probably running at about 80% of normal, what ever that is!

Sneky boogers…

It’s come to my attention, that WordPress has chosen to run ads on my blog, because I didn’t “subscribe” to their NO ADDs plan…. soooooo… please, if you ever see an add on here (I can’t see them) that is distasteful, disgusting or anything else that might put you off, please let me know  (be nice if there was some way you could copy and paste or put a link on so i to could see the add, or at least tell me what it was/is about) might be time to look for a new web-host… I tried to buy my own dominion one time but could never get it all to work o=n this computer)

Thanks!

Sick

Been fighting this ear infection… it wouldn’t be so bad but the antibiotic messed up m gut so I had to go back in today and the Doc is trying a different  antibiotic and got me on some stuff that should help my gut… have only been doing what is necessary… sure be glad when I am back to normal… nicer weather today but it’s supposed to cool off again.. I guess it is January after all…

Oh wonderful!

I woke up a little before 4 yesterday morning with a sharp pain in my right er. Cindy got up and warmed some oil and dripped in it, but it didn’t help. I took a hot washcloth and held it on my right forehead and over my eye, thinking it was sinuses… Cindy heated some water and put it i a hot water bottle and I lay in the chair with that on there and she went to work… I drifted off to sleep after a bit and woke later when i got a phone call… not much of an ache, but my ear didn’t feel right… so this morning the ear is pretty much deaf, so i went in to the clinic (gelled up the tractor, trying to feed before i left, should have just used the team)… Doc sez the ear drum is real red, but she doesn’t think it’s broken.. just some infection, gave me a shot in the upper hip, which hurts like the dickens! I got some antibiotics and she said it should clear them up but it will take a long time for all the fluid to drain off from the ear, so the weird deafness I am experiencing in that ear will be awhile going away… I am the epitome of a guy who is deaf in one ear and can’t hear out of the other…. oh well, this too shall pass… Tate had an accident with his work pickup this morning… sounds like he totaled it out, but no one was harmed… said the officer told them both they should be ticketed for over driving the road conditions, but didn’t ticket either driver… I am sure glad he didn’t get hurt.. suppose he will be pickup shopping…. Hope was shooting a commercial at the Bakery today and i was supposed to go in for that, but the Doctor took precedents…
