Oh man!

I just re-found a place that makes me laugh out loud, setting here by myself.

This is funny stuff, but not for children.

I turned 52 yesterday. Made me think. Made me think I wish I had taken better care of my body when I was younger!

This internet age made it possible for many people from all over to give me birthday greetings. It was fun. Thank you one and all.

Cindy caught a ride into work and then I picked her up when her shift was done. Took her to the eye doctor who told her that she was healed up. Cool! We ran to Rapid and met up with Kass to give her some stuff they had left here. Then instead of going out for supper, we went to the grocery store and got the fixin’s for Reuben sandwiches. They were great. Even drank a couple dark beers with my supper. Hope and Chance and the boys came over and ate sandwiches and then watched American Idol with Cindy. Some people sure are brave, on that show! The English guy is a twit, but he damn sure tells it like it is!

Now, off to harness up and feed critters. Sure beautiful weather out there. Highs in the 40’s. That is great for this time of year. I am going to enjoy it as I know it won’t last as long as I would like!

Global warming must be true!

Here’s the proof!

Global Warning Underway . . . .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Urgent Global warming report just in! Confirms what we feared…

US Weather Bureau Report

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway.

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts,

which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

I’m sorry, I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922 as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post.

Got this in an email this morning

Dear Senator Nelson:

I send this message under Tort Reform because the current monstrosity you have pledged your support to says nothing whatsoever about Tort Reform. You have sold the physicians of Nebraska for zilch (zilch for us, but beaucoup federal bucks for you and the liberal partisans in this state). As a family practice physician in Small Town, Nebraska, I was counting on you to be the lone voice of Democratic sanity on this issue, but you sold me out.

I will dedicate every spare minute of my time and every spare dollar I have to defeating you, should you run for re-election. The long hours I spent on my medical education and the long hours I spend treating my patients are nothing but chump change to you and your Democrat colleagues in Washington. I especially can’t wait for your equivocation and milquetoast evasion when your compromises on the abortion language in the bill are silently erased or quietly (on-little-legislative-cats-feet) eviscerated in the House/Senate give-and-take. Go on: Bet me that you won’t wuss-out on this issue!

I know you won’t give two-seconds to this letter, but I had to write it. I’m a primary care doctor in YOUR state, and you sold me out. I didn’t slog through 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency just to have you hand my career and my patient/doctor
relationships over to government lifers. Your gutless acquiescence to Obama and Harry Reid and Nanny Pelosi will NOT be forgotten.

Thank you, Ben, for forcing doctors like me to earn less than the repairmen who fix our appliances. Case in point: We recently had our dishwasher fixed. The repairman who came to our house charged $65 just to come and diagnose the problem, then charged another $180 to fix the problem. You and your fellow lawmakers have fixed MY going rate (Medicare) at $35 per-visit.

Thank you for securing such a lucrative rate for me! Thank you so much for making me someone with 8 years of education make significantly less than a mechanic or appliance repair technician. And thanks especially for falling in line with Obama and the rest of the Democrats to make such a socialist system permanent.

You have my disgust and disdain forever, you socialist-coddling coward.

Sincerely,
Becky F. Hollibaugh, D.O.

Ahhh, warmth

It got up in the low 30’s yesterday with a wind so it made some of the hill tops brown. I dug around and got up the creek. Amazing how the wind cleaned off some places. In a few days you could drive about anywhere as long as you didn’t have to cross a creek or stayed away from the down wind slopes.

Got my bales cleaned up pretty good. Still need to dig into a different stack behind the house. But I should be able to feed with the bale wagon pretty handy now, and not have to feed as much! Woohoo!

Supposed to get up in the lower 40’s by mid week.

Chinook

Warm……wind? It’s 32 as I type this. Much better than yesterday. I don’t think it’s going to get warm enough to eat any snow (that is what Chinook means, an old Indian word for “snow eater ” so I’ve read) but it is much nicer. Only in the frozen north would we call 32 “warm”!

Got the new keyboard

Only 3 below this morning at 5:15. Supposed to get up to 25 or so. Don’t sound like much to those folks who live down south, but it will feel warm enough to run around without a coat on after this last deep freeze.

Speaking of deep freeze, Chance and Hope were in town so swung up to Newell and got the meat and brought us our share. Ate a steak for supper last night. Not bad. Not bad at all! But for what it costs to get one cut up anymore, I think we will invest in a “meat” building and some equipment and start cutting up our own.
