Tho’ not a real hungry one so far. Warmer and windy.. up close to thirty today anyway. We hosted a sledding part attended by quite a few and as far as i could tell, all had a great time! A fine way to start off there New year! Hope everyone had a good one.

Yup, I can’t deny it any longer, it’s winter… probably 6 inches of fresh snow setting on 2 or 3 of old crusted snow.. wind hasn’t drifted it real bad, but our winter grazing has come to pretty much a halt. Been feeding the big bunch hay every day and cake every other day.. they go out and pick a bit, but we are feeding about what they need, so most don’t travel far.. been coolish, down around zero a few nights and up in the teens durning the day.. supposed to get some warming starting Saturday.. maybe see 30 or so… boys dropped the cake feeder and instead of fixing it, I’ve been making a new one.. the old one worked pretty good on the bale wagon for the team but never worked as good on the bale unroller on the back of the tractor.. I have about a 2 and a half foot across plastic tube, real thick, with a big flange of metal on the bottom, so Tate helped me find some boards and got me some bolts and I bolted a bottom of wood on with a small opening that I put a hinged door on… it will set in the front of the loader, so it will be easy to load and then just drive along and let it dribble out the bottom after you pull the latch and open that door.. I’ll check it out tomorrow.. so far, I haven’t fed with the team.. hips and leg still hurting, too many things going on and I been putting it off..I need to put a tongue in a wagon for cake and do some slight changes on the bale wagon I built last year..we are hosting sled riding on New Years day. We had all the family here on Monday for our Family christmas. Ate too much and enjoyed all the people. I haven’t decided on a New Years resolution.. last year I decided to play guitar every day and I didn’t miss too many.. might just keep that going or maybe do some exercises every day.. heck, it’s hard for me to remember to do my PT and it doesn’t seem to be helping very fast… getting’ old ain’t for sissies! If I don’t see you before, have a Happy New Year!

We got 5 inches or so and wind.. I didn’t even go out today, I could barely get out of bed and Cindy had to help me get my sock o my bad leg.. I don’t know if I over did it with PT yesterday or what… so I took it easy today and didn’t do much electricity has been off and on since yesterday.. it’s back on now and seems to be holding.. sure appreciate them linemen going out in nasty weather to keep us all warm and lit up. I sure appreciated having two sons here to go do what choring needed to be done.. hope this hip/leg deal resolves it’s self soon… we had good crowds and great performers at Lead last weekend for our Cowboy Christmas… already have the date set for next year.. hope I get to be involved agin.. what a great feeling.. it’s about Christmas, not Happy Holidays… and every performers knows and feels that way.. supposed to get warm this weekend..

Ever since I helped Tate lay decking down in the loft of the new house I have been stiff and soar in my right leg. I finally got to my physical therapist yesterday. He showed me some stretches to do. They sure seemed to pull and stretch the muscles… felt good, i kind of a tight way… so I did a set last night after I got home… man, this morning I am stiff and sore! So I just did them again and feel better.. odd, how we humans try and avoid hard labor but then have to do special kinds of exercise to over come all the luxury of lack of work we have been getting! Must be time to harness the team and go to using them for something!

Here is a link to a new song I just posted to my Facebook page… not sure if it will work for those of you who don’t have Facebook, but you can try and let me know.. I am having trouble posting it to Youtube or any other way I can post it…

The cows.. not us! Moved them back down south so they can clean up some left over grass.

Been above freezing since Wednesday. Not much snow left  but lots of ice.. we got some cake in Thursday so been caking the cows the last couple days.. they are figuring it out, those who evidently had never eaten cow cake before. Hopefully we can get them moved south tomorrow, after sorting a few of the thinner ones off and there are not many that are not in real good shape… later calving has paid off I guess! 😀
