Puttin’ up hay the old way, with helpers

That’s what we been doin’. My helpers are pretty good at stompin’ the hay if you don’t work them too long. Mostly, they want to RIDE, since I have gotten ’em horseback. Dang cowboys!

  1. I hope you let them ride after all that hard work! Great Photos! I enjoyed seeing them..haying this way is a lost art you know..my Grandpa kept his horses working till about 1955..then he let the tractor take over.:)

    1. Yeah Connie, we are going to ride today. We ran out of time yesterday. Tomorrow I will take them to the bronc riding match at the Faith Stockshow.

This is really really an old way of haying. Usually they swept it up to a beaver slide stacker or an over shot stacker, with a team of horses on a buck rake. But I don’t have a buck rake or stacker. Besides, this gives me more exercise and is a cheap way to keep these boys busy! 😉
