Fillies

Went out in the afternoon the other day and worked with the bay filly. Then went out this afternoon and worked with her again and also the red dun filly. Both showed lots of progress.

I went up north yesterday and hauled a bull to a feller and dropped off a pair of my boots at the boot lady’s place, to get them re-soled. Road was sloppy in places. Seen some Bald Eagles. Gabe went with me. Gus has some kind of sickness and has spent most the day setting on Gramma’s lap. He did set on mine for a bit while I fed him ice cream. Yeah, they used to tie a steak around my neck to get the dogs to play with me when I was a kid too! πŸ˜‰

  1. Are these your yearling fillies? We have a couple of two-year olds that I need to start, but won’t get the chance till later. Hope your weather holds, and the grass is as good as last year.

  2. Better a steak than a dead chicken!! LOL All the crud going around is hitting the kids perty hard right now, 3 of the 5 here have been sickly of sorts. That doesnt include the ole man – he is feeling pretty snarky himself.

  3. Yeah Allen, the colts from last year. They will be a year old this spring.

I will see if I can find some picture of the fillies. I took the camera out yesterday to take some and forgot. The bull was a corriente they guy will use on his first calf heifers.

Yeah Jim, I remember when you were the boot guy. This lady makes them, not just sells them tho.

  4. You guys have boot makers up there? dang yall will do anything for fun huh. Was a miserable 80 degrees here today again with the wind blowing if it doesn’t rain this weekend it will be a really short yearling season.
