They are awfully pretty…I am not sure what their purpose is..must be fancy cowboy stuff..no one around these parts wears spurs anymore:)
Connie, spurs intended to elevate and lengthen the stride of a horse and as a way to pin point the cues you are giving the horse. They are not intended to harm or hurt the horse.

Bob, Thanks for the explanation..I used to always ride bareback..poor farm kid..no money for a saddle..I used my legs and the reins for all my signals..oh yeah and my voice..for encouragement! Just so you know how badly I wanted to ride..cows and their boney spines are heck on your butt:)
