80 some degrees today. Not bad for the first of August!

Mares and fillies were in close to the corral so I suckered them in and worked with the yearling fillies this morning and with a 4 year old, a 2 year old and combed the rats nests out of Jam’s mane. Chance came this evening and we went down south and finally got my plumbing done and the tank set back over the waterline. Now I just need to go hook up the float and fill the hole in the center of the earthmover tire that is the tank, with cement.

A neighbor was supposed to come and start cutting some hay this week, but it was rainy enough, he hasn’t got here yet. That’s okay, he will get here soon enough.

Tate and Kass and the boys will be here any minute now. Tate is going to help me fix the roof so it quits leaking. Wish us luck!

  1. Good luck on fixin the leak! Wish i could make it out there yet this summer…… Hope your friend is doing better or is at least stable!!!

  2. Hey there Mr. Dennis. Am I understanding you right?? Yore making a watering tank out of an Earthmover tire?? I shore would like to see how ya did that!! Got me to thinkin, (boy an I dangerous when I do!). I’de like to make a tank to hold water for my garden and other uses.
Hate ta see the yungun hurt. Speedy recovery to him. Thankz, Ol James.

  3. Yeah James, it’s just an old earthmoving tire with the sidewall cut out. Laid on it’s side. That is all we use for water tanks around here, anymore. Fill the center hole in with dirt up to about 4 inches from full, put some bentonite in and then some cement on top of the bentonite, tho’ I have a 12 footer with just bentonite. If I can remember, I will get a picture and post it. They are pretty much indestructible.

  4. Well I’ll be. I got a tater bed and some other veggies in some old truck tires. But I never thought of making a water tank outta one!! Brilliant!! I’m gonna give that a whirl, for sure!! Thankz Mr. Dennis.

  5. Heidi, so far he just kind of sets around. I hope it’s just that he knows he has to let it set still for a few days. If he isn’t showing more action today, I think they are going to go back to the doctor. I will keep an update going on the blog.

    Thanks for asking.
