Rain

Getting a nice rain as I type this. A buddy came up Sunday evening and we sorted and moved yearling’s on Monday, then loaded up and went to another friends about 50 miles from here. Set up his tepee and unrolled our bedrolls and spent the night and got up, gathered and branded a bunch of calves on Tuesday. Headed and heeled all of them. A fun and efficient way to work calves, especially if they are big. Here’s a few pictures.

  1. Headed and heeled them all? However did you get a bunch of flat-@$$ers and nord fork lovers to do that? 🙂

  2. There are a select few of us who appreciate and enjoy doing it this way. We are not all of the “farmer” class around these parts! 😉

You have to admit , at least the nordfork users are half right! 🙂

  3. I want to come to your brandings.
    We use nordforks.
    I can’t heel.
    I’ve tried.
I can’t. I just can’t so I have to stay on the ground crew.
However, I can neck just about anything….

    Nice shots!
    Perfect day too…no dust!

  4. Shoot Lori, you have to heel also. It’s not that hard, just takes a little practice! I bet I could have you throwing a perfect trap in an hour.

Thanks Collie! Glad you enjoy it. Hope things are looking up, out your way.

  5. That sure brought back memories. Thats the way brandings should be done. Put a lot of fun along with the work.

  6. looks like yall had a good day despite the weather………good to see Marty again……..how’s he been doing?

  7. Allen, it was fun. And a good way to get the work done. This is how we do our little bunch also.

Heidi, if I can send any your way, I will. By the way, where is your way?

LE, Marty had a tuff spring but is doing much better now. He is really enjoying getting to get out and about and not have to nurse his leg.
