Hmmmmm

CAUTION; RANT TO FOLLOW. IF YOU ARE NOT AMUSED BY RANTINGS, PLEASE AVOID THIS !

Setting here in front of me on my desk, is a package of a product called Little Hotties, a hand/body warming device. Evidently, you shake it and it warms up and you can keep it in your pocket or wherever you think you need to warm up, I guess. No problem.

But down in the corner it say’s “100% Wind Power”.

You know me, I can’t seem to make the co-relation between wind power and hand warmer. So I take up this little bag and start reading it. On the back is a spiel that this product is made by a company that is “committed to decreasing our environmental impact on earth!”

Furthermore, this wonderful company has gone so far as to “purchase enough wind power to account for all electricity used while manufacturing the product” in said package!

Wow!

Imagine! A company so responsible and upright that they go to all the effort to buy up an equal amount of wind power to offset the electricity they are using to manufacture a product to sell.

Outstanding!

Right?

Yeah, outstanding in their hypocritical bullshit pile!

Listen people, you can’t just go do something good to offset all the bad you do, to ease your conscious and call it good. Oh I guess you can, but you are still an evil puke, and no amount of good works by you will make you better. It doesn’t work that way. You can’t buy your way into heaven! Change, you have to change for the better, first.

This company is no better than the Mob Boss who gives to the poor in his neighborhood, to assuage his guilt for all the pain and misery he is subjecting the world to, by his and his associates deeds, where ever they send their goons to make the money they give a small part of, back to their community . Or at least they are on the same scale.

I have no problem with a company using electricity. But if they really think it is ruining the earth, they should just shut their company down or better yet, re-tool it into a company that doesn’t use electricity or what ever they are worried about. Buying the same amount of wind power generated electricity doesn’t get them off the hook. They still used the electricity made by what ever means they are finding offensive!

Wind powered electricity still needs all the poles and transmission lines. Plus an ass kicking big windmill that uses lots of that nasty electricity and oil, to build! I got no problem with them. I can’t see how they are hurting our world, other than maybe ruining our view, at times. But lots of man made object do that and these people don’t seem to have much trouble with those, do they? I’d be willing to bet they got no problem with anything that helps them stay fed and warm. Unless some “greenie”  points out to them they are ruining the earth by using that product. Then they will come up with a plan to “offset” their use, to make themselves feel better about it.

Hey, every time you start your car or truck and send out emissions, you are putting stuff into the atmosphere that is not probably doing your body any good. Lucky for us it’s a big world in a big solar system that has evolved for years. Hell, they tell me at one time the whole earth was inhospitable to life! So how come we can live here now? Because some greenie figured out how to fix the mess and “clean up the earth”? I don’t think so Timmy!

My point is, any  way we generate energy of any kind, is causing some discord or change. That’s what it’s all about. Change. Everything changes. We can’t stop that. Put a windmill up and it is changing the wind, somewhat. And the flight path of birds. And the view. Ask the Kennedy’s why they don’t want windmills off the coast next to their summer homes!

And don’t think I am advocating we go make a mess of the earth, but all you hypocrites who are screaming to “green” everything up, who still drive or ride in automobiles or planes or any other man made means of travel are hypocrites. Go walk, or ride a bike or ride or drive a horse. And don’t scoff at that and then tell me we have to come up with better ways of traveling, when those all have been proven to work efficiently. I can harness up a team and get my cows fed. Can you walk to work or use a team or saddle horse or in any other way get to and do your work without burning oil or electricity? Ever heard of the Amish? Fastest growing segment of farming, I read awhile back.

Face it when we use things mankind has invented, we are burning oil or coal or some other earth bound object or product to manufacture all those cool inventions we have come up with to improve our lives.

Until you are ready to go live in a cave or hide covered tepee and use a bow and arrow you built yourself and wear skins you tan yourself, don’t whine at me about how I should solve the problems the manufacturers of the world have come up with that YOU say is ruining the world. YOU figure out how to solve them with a viable alternative, then we will talk.

In the meantime. Shut the hell up!  And quit bragging on what good people you are and sneering at the rest of the people who you look down your nose at, who are probably better people than you anyway!

  1. You use a team for your work? How cruel, subjecting those animals to a lifetime of labor! And on top of that, they’re polluting the air with their belches and farts!

You are evil. You’re going straight to hell!

    😉

  2. Amen, good ranting there JB!
On the subject of handwarmers, I had a brain fart today. I’m going to make me some thin quilted pads and fill ’em with rice to fit in my mitts. Then just before I go outside I’m gonna nuke them and stick ’em in one of those wide mouth soup thermoses to keep them warm ’til I need them when I’m cutting waterholes at 35 below. I’m such a wuss. No wind power though, sorry.

  3. I like the idea of windmills, but it seems sort of like fighting a forest fire with a wet dish rag. I’m not sure there would be room left for people (and critters) if enough of the things were put up to come even close to being a reasonably efficient power source. Besides, they clutter up the landscape and get between me and my view of the sky.

  4. Well put.

I use a Jon-E warmer, because it uses Ronsonol (A Shell product, basically Napthalene) and it’s made by a company that’s been around a LONG time, and mine still works for five, six hours at a time after having been carried in my pocket for damned near thirty winters. I’ve had to replace the little cloth bag once, and it has a dent in it from buckshot, but it still works fine.

No solar powered bullshit need apply.
