Must be summer!

Still pretty warm and muggy.

We have a mystery in the neighborhood. As Cindy was going to work this morning she found two different big bales of hay in the road ditch that some one had set on fire. Locals put up the hay in the road ditches usually. And once they are baled they usually leave them until they get their other haying done. Then they go back and pick up the bales and haul them in. Some idiot is going around and setting these 1000 pound plus bales on fire! Good thing it is still green! I hope they catch whoever is doing it. Once the bales are gone, they may start on other things!

Got my chores done this morning and went out and doctored on yearlings. Used Purple and the cross bow. There was one heifer I never did get a good shot at. I guess I will have to go rope her and do it that way. Maybe wait until Chance is here this week end to help me.

Put new heels on a pair of my boots. They had been needing it for quite awhile. Also ground on a saddle tree to hopefully fit a ladies horses back better. The tree in her saddle now is causing the mare to get sore over the loins. Hope we get it figured out. Tried to order some more leather and rawhide, but missed one guy and the other place had a busy signal on the other end of the phone.

A couple young fellers stopped in and I did some sewing for one and visited with the other about a pair of chaps we built him. Delbert stopped in and we visited and I showed him my new rope. Next thing you know, it was about right now! Amazing!

  1. I haven’t done any leatherwork in a long time, but i still have my tools and my leather vise and my skiving knife. I have been carrying the same ragged old wallet for ever, maybe I ought to make up a good one out of some decent leather and it’ll last forever. Good reason to drag out the old stuff.
