Went to Rapid and did them today. Didn’t turn out too bad which means I had a bad year. I kind of already knew that. When I fueled up on the way home diesel cost 3.96 a gallon, cash. Woohoo! Yeah, lets not make any more refineries. Or drill for any more oil. Yeah right. Until they come up with something better than ethonal we don’t have a lot of choices people.
Maybe you should try driving a more gas efficient vehicle to town. I am aware that ranchers do need trucks to pull trailers but do you need to drive it everytime to town?
Nope, sorry, I can’t afford to own more than one vehicle so I drive what I have where ever I go. My wife has a car which gets better mileage, but she had it in a different town where she works, 60 miles from where we live.
Don’t worry about me, I will get by, like my family has here for the last 100 plus years, but I sure feel sorry for all the people this is hurting. Unlike me they all don’t have the ability to get up to the work they do right out their front door and ability to use horse and their feet for most of that work.
You do realize that as fuel costs go up it also drives up the price of everything else in this country as everything is trucked. I don’t know where you live, but I doubt you can get everything your require to live as you do, from your neighbors. Are you self sufficient? Do you need to buy groceries or other goods that are trucked? If so, get used to all the rising costs and probably the recession that is coming.
Oh, and thanks for all your concern for those less fortunate than you.
At least we’re still surviving, have food for the table and a warm place to sleep!
just to let you know I work a $8.80 hour job. I truely dont think I am rich by any means. I am not stupid either. You dont have to explain to me where food comes from. I am well aware that it is trucked. And I AM NOT ON WELFARE(so dont get the idea i am)
So then higher gas costs are going to hit you very hard aren’t they Jane? I am truly sorry to hear that. I wish we could do something about it.
We are in CA and the average price of gas is $3.65. As populated as this area is we are simply not set up for public transit. :o(
A question for Jane…why so defensive? Just wondering~~ rising fuel costs are a concern for almost all of us.
I hope Jane goes out and buys a hybrid as soon as she can afford one. But wait, they don’t get very good gas mileage out on the highway. They are best for inner city travel. And then after about two years she will be forking out $2000 for a new battery. Okay, so at least we will be forced to buy those new compact fluorescent light bulbs to save energy by 2012. Yeah, those are great, but if you drop one and break it, you have to call the haz mat team to dispose of it. The enviros have all the solutions, don’t they? I still say, worship the oil companies and lobby Congress to let us drill where there are huge oil reserves and build more freakin’ refineries!!!! That’s it, folks. That’s the answer and we better get on it because it’s going to take a few years before any of this kicks in. Oh, and did you hear that California is rethinking their plan for everybody to buy hybrids and conserve on gas? Yeah, the politicians are feeling the pinch from the loss of tax revenue….rut roh (in the words of the immortal Scoobie Doo). The sea change is coming. Just too late for the poor and middle class, who get hurt the worst from all these rising costs of commodities.
