Taaaaa Daaaa (or what ever would sound like a drumroll!

If you haven’t noticed, there are a few changes to the looks of this blog/journal!

There may be more coming your way.

In the future you may see some ads on here. They are for your benefit.

Let me know what you think, if you like the changes or not.

As I was going through my poems and re-printing some (seems I lost the ones I had printed out) I came across this one. Ray Hunt, who is a wonderful trainer of people and an advocate of horses (do a google search) has quoted this in the past as his clinics. I thought it was very apt and very true. Wish I knew who wrote it, other than anonymous, who seems to get lots of credit for lots of printed material, all of which he/she couldn’t have possibly written! A friend who also builds saddles and can really throw a rawhide riata and hit his targets, was kind enough to give me a copy. Thanks Don!

Here it is…

Man in the Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.

For it isn’t your father or mother or wife
Whose judgement upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum
And think your a wonderful guy
But the man in the glass says your only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

He’s the fellow to please, never mind all the rest
For he’s with you clear up to the end
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the man in the glass is your friend

You may get what you want down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.

I try to live by this quite a bit, tho’ I have been accused of being selfish. I just figure if I ain’t happy with who I am and what I am doing, I won’t have much time to try and help others, whether they need me to or not.

Let me know what you think.

Now I better get out there and do some real ranch work! 🙂

I’ll try and come up with some fresh horse pictures Mad, but I’m running out of fresh material!

  1. I like it too Dad.. It’s a good one to live by or whatever u call it. Can’t say that I actually like the person in the mirror, but ofcourse I never have… Not that I can’t look em in the eye.. Just that I don’t like what I see I suppose… Talk Later, Bye 4 now..

P.S. Gabe likes the pic too…. “Thats his Grandpa on Grandpa’s horse” he says…lol Not Beaver like I tried to tell him it was. He just says “Nope thats Grandpa’s horse”…lol.. That kid has a few things to learn from u I’m thinkin…lol..

  2. Cool new digs….get unpacked turn the coffee on and mad and I will take a look around! You have posted so many horse pics we have a hard time keeping all the names straight. Mad’s daycare has a computer for them…first day she ran in and sat down and started to type. I am told she looked around a bit and asked her teacher where “Bob’s ponies were?” She sure confused everybody LOL
