Back to winter
I went out before daylight and plugged the tractor in and was sure wonderin’ about that new calf, as the wind was blowin’ and it wasn’t that warm. In my gut I knew his momma had him in a good spot, but just the same, he wasn’t very old at dark last night. When itContinue reading “Back to winter”
After the blizzard
Got all the stock fed. Went back out to shovel out gates and saw we had a new calf, so I guess we are calving. I had the horses with the cows so moved them so they wouldn’t bother the new baby and his mom. Pictures.

I decided that I need to do something similar and post more about what I do and why I do it here on our ranch. PleaseContinue reading “How we do it”
Seems like spring
I took a big roll of smooth barbless wire and my plammers and walked up into the lane this morning and patched on all the broken wires behind the tree patch, where all the snow had drifted this winter. It was still stiff enough out that it wasn’t muddy yet. Most of the drift isContinue reading “Seems like spring”
