Gabe took a nasty fall yesterday, somewhere out in the corrals. We ended up taking him to Rapid for a cat scan and it all checked out good but he sure a tuff lookin’ little feller right now!

I tried to up load a picture of him, but it won’t come on here. Mayber tomorrow I’ll get one on.

I took a leaf out of Tap’s book today and took my camera along while I was driving the team. This is what it looks like when your driving.

Sure was another nice day. Going down in the breaks tomorrow to help a neighbor work some cattle. Supposed to be nice. That’s good. I’m kind of a fair weather cowboy. I can ride when it’s cold and nasty out, but I sure don’t like it!

The old message board, cowboys and buckaroos, is on the fritz this morning, so the guy who started it, started a new one.

You have to register, but that’s pretty easy. This one has a live chat feature and spell check and other new cool things. I think it will be an improvement. For all of you who I don’t have your email address, I hope you check in here and find out how to get to the new site. Hopefully at some time we will be able to get back on the old site and move all those threads over to the new site.

For those of you who were never on the old site, this new site will be pretty much like the old one. Dedicated to, for and about working ranch cowboys and buckaroo’s. If your interested, stop in and say hi.

Here’s this years tree.

Tate came here last night and chance, Hope and Gus got his this morning about noon. Boys went out and fixed thew skylights on the blue shed. Then they helped me make a quickee bed for one of my wagons. Then Chance helped me get the team hooked up and we took them for a spin. Went real well. Probably take them for a longer drive tomorrow. Sure is nice to be able to set down and not have to stand all the time.

Got up over 33 degrees today. Awful nice and supposed to stay this way for awhile. I’m all for it.

Here’s a Christmasy picture for you.

Kass ands Cindy went crazy with the Christmas lights in the living room. I thought this looked pretty cool tho’! Just screams, “Merry Christmas” in a cowboy/ranchy sort of way. LOL

Another nice day. Drove these two again today.

Tried switching sides with them, but it didn’t go too good. Had to re-hitch them back on the other sides. then things went pretty smooth.

Not too much else going on around here. Still working on saddles. supposed to go to Casey’s tomorrow and rope in the afternoon, it sounds like. weather looks to be pretty good this weekend so maybe me and the boys will get the broken skylights fixed in the blue shed.

I need to fire up the tractor tomorrow and haul in another couple bales and maybe work on my sled and a wagon for this team to pull. One of these days I’m going to need to haul some hay to some cows, so I better get ready.

I got this in an email from Sue, a reader in Iowa. I thought it was pretty good.

TRODDING THRU THE SNOW
WITH A TWO HORSE OPEN CHARIOT
OR THE FIELDS WE GO
LOOKING FOR MY LARRIET
THOUGHT I HAD IT WITH ME-
SURE AM GETTING OLD
CANT NOW ROPE THEM RABBITS–
DASHING ACROSS THE SNOW

O—-GETTING OLD IS NASTY
SHOWS I CANT COMPETE
MOTHER NATURE SHOWED ME
SHE HAS GOT ME BEAT

Anyone else got some to go with or improve on my start?

(To the tune of Jingle Bells)

Trodding thru’ the partial snow
In a two horse open chariot
hmmm, hmmm, hmmm ,hmmm hmmm,
wish I could think of a word that rhymed with chariot!

Okay, here’s me ant the team. Went up west and checked on water for the cows and then back thru’ the corrals and Kass took this picture and some more, I will be adding as the days go by. Beautiful day out!

Ron and Roz went real well. Had a couple little spooks but no big deal. Inside a week they will be acting like an old broke team, I’ll bet.

Sure am enjoying these little rascals!

The chariot works real good as I can go about anywhere two horses can forward, sideways or backwards. Maybe them Roman’s knew what they were doing! 🙂

Cool out there today, but not too much wind. Just enough to pump the windmill’s.

Went out and drove the team this afternoon. Even got Gramma to go along and open gates and watch for emergencies – which there weren’t none – and it went well. Took them out of the corral and circled a lot a couple times. I believe by tomorrow they will be ready for a trip up west or something. 🙂

I drove these two again this afternoon.

Dean came over and helped me out.I switched sides with them and drove them as they are standing in this picture. Normally you put the bigger horse on the right side, but Ron didn’t seem to like it very good last time on the right, so I switched them and I think it helped. Dean helped me get Roz going and after that they were fine. Sure am glad I put a heavier tounge in the chariot as Roz laid on it pretty hard several times. I’ll try and drive them again tomorrow and the next day. A solid week of driving and they should be fine and ready to do about anything i’ll want them to do, at this time and their age.

Got up over 30 today. Wimmen went to town. Me and the dogs stayed home and worked. I got some work done on a saddle and got leather mellowing to do some more this evening.

Remember the national Finals are on ESOPN tonight again. I just love the bronc riding and the rest is okay. We have a pretty good representation from around this part of the world down there.

A feller I know who lives in the northwestern part of the state, up where I got Ron and Roz from, started a blog and I just found out about it. Great pictures and good reading. you better check it out. I have it on my favorites list on the computer now.
