Went to Rapid and did them today. Didn’t turn out too bad which means I had a bad year. I kind of already knew that. When I fueled up on the way home diesel cost 3.96 a gallon, cash. Woohoo! Yeah, lets not make any more refineries. Or drill for any more oil. Yeah right. Until they come up with something better than ethonal we don’t have a lot of choices people.

That’s about where I am today. Not quite to the top of my game, but much better. Even hooked the team up and fed hay with them. WooHoo. Watch out liberals! 🙂
Here’s another
- Another friend posted this and gave me permission to use it. I especially like the first one!
- The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental. As John Steinbeck once said: 1. Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.3. I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy.4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him “Why do you carry a 45?” The Ranger responded, “Because they don’t make a .46.”6. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.7. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. “Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?” “No Ma’am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.”8. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!But wait, there’s more!I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said “Well I certainly hope it isn’t loaded!” To which I said, of course it is loaded, can’t work without bullets!” She then asked, “Are you that afraid of some one evil coming into your house?” My reply was, “No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too.” To which I’ll add, having a gun in the house that isn’t loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank.
- So there you have it. Let the discussion proceed!
Stupid cold!
It’s just getting worse. Just as everyone has been telling me it would. I hate when they do that.
- I was reading this on a forum from a lady who I know. I asked if I could post it and she said I could. She really can sling the words around.
- Okay, I gotta share this with you guys. I finally got around to emailing Ford about the problems I have been having with my truck and about a few other issues I have with Ford.

Fifty-two of these rescued horses now have a new home at the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in South Dakota. We are pleased to announce that Ford is working with the U.S. Department of the Interior to save an additional 2,000 wild mustangs from slaughter and transport them to new homes. We have also established a fund called Save the Mustangs to maintain the legacy of these beloved animals through contributions that help ensure their long-term sustainability and care.Even in challenging times, Ford has always been a company that cares about the communities in which it does business. This commitment is a central part of our ongoing business strategy and vision for the future. The Mustang has helped drive our success for more than forty years, by supporting its namesake we can return the favor.Ford Motor Company would like to encourage anyone who is interested in helping this worthy cause to visit www.savethemustangs.org to find out how you can make a difference.Bill Ford, CEO of Ford Motor Company has said, ‘A good company delivers excellent products and services; a great one does all that and strives to make the world a better place.’Thank you for contacting Ford Motor Company.Sincerely,Ford Motor CompanyCustomer Relationship Center
- This is her reply to that form letter.
- I’m sorry, but I don’t think Ford has any business in this endeavor, either. If you want to spend some money on things other than actual car and truck building, then use your money to influence Congress to let the oil companies drill for oil in the Gulf and ANWR and to build more refineries. Your business is making a product that burns fossil fuel. We need more fuel and more refineries. We need to quit letting the Liberal interest groups like the environmentalists force their whacko ideas on the rest of the country to the point where we are doing things that are counter-productive and downright anti-American. The global warming hysterics are looking more and more ridiculous as well as just plain wrong. Don’t follow them off the cliff like a bunch of lemmings. As for saving wild mustangs…I’m not sure that’s such a geat idea. The animal rights dimwits have abolished horse slaughter in the country and that is going to have disastrous effects on the horse world. The law of unintended consequences is going to be visited upon this do-gooder fiasco as it has been through history on all government meddling in private enterprise.Henry Ford built a great company by supplying the American consumer with an affordable car. He did more to lift up a whole people than any activist group could ever hope to do. Please get back to his legacy and quit trying to assuage the special interests in this country. If you do that, you might actually save the company and make it profitable once again. And give us loyal Ford truck owners a reason to keep buying Ford trucks. Lately, I haven’t seen much of that.Reading what Bill Ford, CEO, said, I’m thinking he might have been better suited to join the Peace Corps instead of given the helm of one of the greatest capitalist ventures of all time.Jill ……
- Way to go Jill. They are not mustangs , they are feral horses. Just like if we turned a bunch of dogs loose to survive, they would not become wolves. They would be wild dogs. Not wolves. Not mustangs. Wild, feral horses.
- The people in this country really scare me at times. I’m glad there are a few like Jill who will go to the effort to send off letters like this. I sure hope it does her some good.
- Now, I think I will go shoot myself so I will feel better. Fricken cold!
Sunday 3/9/08
Lovely Deb from Plainview stopped in and dropped off 4 dozen eggs. Thanks Deb. Man, I will really have to go to eating eggs now! I rode Beaver up west and rode all over looking for a slunk calf and didn’t find anything. I know the heifer slunk one as she has cleanings, but I can’t find it. That is the second one on these lease cows and I ain’t likin’ it very well! Still somewhat puny, but did enjoy the ride. Not much wind and about 35 degrees.
Flu
Or some such has attacked. Cindy and everybody else has had it. Guess it’s my turn. Posts might drop off until it passes.
What was I thinking? Not just a puppy, but a Jack Russel puppy! I swear it was all Gramma’s fault. She made me do it! These young fella’s was out last weekend.
3/6/08
Got some snow in the night and a little more during the day. It was warm enough that most melted. Cindy called before noon and wanted me to fiux her a bag as the weather was bad enough in town that she was staying in. Another neighbor lady she works with took it in. I had the wonderful Matt Trask up this evening for supper. We played guitars and designed him a strap for his guitars. He has been playing for quite awhile now and does a great job. He has so much more knowledge than me that I feel at somewhat of a loss. Kind of like when I play with Chance. It was good for me and I realized I better keep practicing as I will be doing a show at Spearfish at the Heritage Center on the 19th at 7 pm. Today when I drove the team up to feed, I walked alongside and drove them for the exercise for me and it’s good for them to learn to be driven by someone other than straight behind them. Made me pant and sweat and my feet sore, so I am sure it was good for me. Then after dinner I drove them on the other side that they are used to. I’ll do that for awhile so they don’t get stuck on just one side. Now, off to bed!
Ahhhh!
One of these days I will be back at this. I can hardly wait!
Another good story
Another typical day
Wind blew a little. Had some sun. Got up over freezing. Fed the cows with the team. Same old, same old. Had a guy call and set up a gig this July. Had another lady call and set up a gig in March at Spearfish. Worked on a little leather. Kids and grandkids all left so it’s just me and gramma and she’s went to bed. Guess I’ll follow after bit. Hopefully there will be more excitement tomorrow, tho’ boring can be fine too! Oh, I called about a Jack Russell Terrier. Man, they want a lot for one of them little rascals. Like I need another dog around here!
