Before things get too hectic

I thought I ought to get my version of a Christmas card sent out, as I don’t send any thru’ the mail any more. This one got sent as an email and on a board I frequent. A feller on there named Lee did the art work. I just included him on my blog roll so you can check out all his stuff. He does some great work.

Any way, thought you guys might enjoy this.

Christmas 09
Cindy was gettin’ cranky with me
Said my Christmas spirit sucked
Claimed I acted about like a scalded rooster
Who’s feathers had all been plucked!

I thought I’d just show her a thing or two
A plan creep’d into my head
By golly I’d sure show her she was wrong
That my Christmas spirit wasn’t dead

So I got some huge antlers I’d saved one time
From an elk her Grampa had shot
And I caught my good ol’ trusty Beaver horse
The gentlest horse that I have got

And now you see what I got accomplished
The dog thinks it looks really cool
Beaver will quit poutin’ before spring I think
And I showed Gramma I ain’t no fool!

Dec 7th

Pearl Harbor day. The day that sent us into WWII. A sad day in history. The 911 of that generation.

I saw a WWII veteran the other day. He was in on the invasion of Omaha beach. Ended up in a German prisoner of war camp. Got down to 83 pounds before they were liberated. Very interesting man to visit with. There ain’t too many left of that era. If you run across one, please stop and visit with them. Soon they will all be gone and none left to thank.

We were at Spearfish at a mutuals friends art show and Bob lives at Bison, SD. Pretty fair drive between them. I asked Bob if he was spending the night at Spearfish. He said he wasn’t, he was going to drive back to Bison that night. Told me he had a good pickup with brand new tires on it. I told him it sure probably wasn’t too big of a deal, as long as the weather stayed good. It was about 10 degree’s that evenng, but no snow. He told me he liked to drive and didn’t care if the weather was good or not! He had just driven over to Upton the other day for Thanksgiving!

What a guy!

Oh, he was born in 1918. Makes you reconsider what “old” is.

Jinxed!

My previous post must have jinxed me! Again, last night, they did not show the bronc riding. Sumbitches!

So, I got on the phone and spent quite a little time fighting this morning, cussing and letting them know of my scorn and anger!

Didn’t seem to impress them too much.

The last guy, had a strange accent, like he was from India. I asked where he was talking from. He said Pittsburgh. I laffed!

Of course, I never thought to ask if there is a Pittsburgh in India!

I told him he sounded funny and he said he was from Briton!

I told him he didn’t sound anything like any person I have ever talked to from Briton, and I have visited with quite a few, over the years. Then he said he had lived in Africa. Ahh! That explains it. He sounded almost just like Obama! 😉 LOL

I eventually called the neighbors and found out they have the same server as I do, but a different set of channels, which I didn’t have. I called my server back up and got them, for an extra 10 bucks. And when I take them off in a week or so, they will charge me 5 bucks to do that. Oh well, still cheaper than any rodeo ticket I know of, at least a PRCA one.

So now I can see them in daylight even if I tape them and hopefully they will show the whole rodeo and not eliminate any events.

I know, those of you who are not Saddle Bronc Ridng fans probably don’t understand this, but I have a neighbor down there and this is the one sporting event I wait for all year. And to not get to see it after having paid for a subscription , is just a total crock of crap, to me!

By the way, it is winter here. Highs below 10 above this week they say and below zero for lows. We have a light dusting of snow and maybe more coming. Oh well, it’s been nice for quite awhile and we have plenty of feed on hand, so I guess we will make it. I took more bean up to the cows yesterday and they have lots of grass. Calves and colts get hay and bean every day and the horse bunch will get some hay once in awhile when it gets nasty out. For now, they are doing fine. So, bring on winter, I guess.

Ahhhhhhhhhh

Life is good again. I got to watch the bronc riding from last night. Some really great rides. I loved it when Toas grinned at the bronc when he hit the dirt. Talk about a great  attitude! And Chad and JJ really stuck some rides on. I should go back and re-watch them. Man I wish I could have ridden like that!

Ran into Rapid yesterday after unloading a truck load of hay I got from a neighbor. We are trading. He sent a load of hay and will pay some boot and he gets my old Hydro tractor that I blew the motor up in. I sure miss it as a loader tractor.

I ran on to Chance and Hope who had picked up Tyler in Rapid. While Hope and Sam shopped Tyler and Gus and Chance went over and bought Tyler a 12 gauge pump shot gun. Pretty snazzy.  Only gunTyler has ever owned other than  22 we bought him years ago. He can’t wait to come out and shoot some trap, so as soon as it warms back up, I bet I know what we will be doing!

I picked up Cindy in Sturgis and we ran to Spearfish got a load of wood pellets, ate a bite and went to Teri McTighes art show. She has great talent and really has some tremendous stuff. She had a new one there of one of my fillies and I sure liked it. If I had the money I’d just buy it. I don’t think she’s gonn’a let me trade her another horse for it! 🙂

Supposed to go to  community potluck this afternoon. Guess I will build a fresh batch of biscuits to take.

Bahhh and a humbug indeed!

Can you say ANGRY, boys and girls

Yes indeedy, I am!

This is the only time of year I am really glad I hve satelitte TV because the National Finals Rodeo is on from Vegas. ESPN puts it on late in the evening to late at night except for the final performance of the ten rounds. Last night, at midnight here, was the start of the first round. I set the DVR or DVD or what the hell ever the timer taper thingy is on the TV and went to bed with visionsof saddle broncs and bronc riders in my head. As the saddlebronc riding is the only reason I watch it.

I got up this mornng and turned it on, tuned it in, even sat thru’ the bareback riding and low and behold, there was no freeking saddle bronc ridng! I fast forwarded and backed it up several times and finally found where they showed Toas Muncy’s winning ride and the interview with him.

But that was it.

Nothing more.

Nada.

Zip!

Bupkas!

It’s lucky for them people resposible for this travesty that they ain’t around me right now or they would damn sure get an earful!

(insert emoticon of pissed off guy here, screaming and hollering)

Sonsabitches!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bah humbug

Hope came up the other evening and she and Cindy put up the Christmas decorations. This time of year used to really get me down, but having grandkids around and moving a land payment to a different time of year has sure helped my mood!

Now, if I can just get people to quit worrying about giving presents ONLY at this time of year and instead giving them throughout the year when they see something people would like, then I think I could really be of good cheer! 🙂

It has gotten better with the kids. They are getting good about building things for us and each other. A piece of paper telling me they love me means a lot more than a silly gift that will not last long. Here’s some picture showing the decorations.

Neighborin’

Went over to a neighbors yesterday and helped him bring in his bunch of roping cattle, just before noon. Then we ate a bite and some other neighbors and friends came over and we roped and branded all that needed it. Also gave the calves a shot and wormed them.

Today I am going to help him get his cattle on summer pasture started towards home. I sure am glad the weathers nice!
