Road Trip

Left Sunday morning and hooked up with my nephew and his son in Sturgis and headed south, pulling the trailer with a horse in it for Chance. Went to Chadron and then over to Crawford, to check out the old cavalry post, Fort Robinson, where Crazyhorse came in and was killed. We then went south to Scott’s Bluff and then on to I 80. Dropped the horse off at Chances place where he’s working and looked at some cattle and pasture for a bit then headed to Cheyenne. Spent the night and did some business Monday morning then headed home. Went over to Guernsy and then north. I’d never taken that route before. Some real pretty country. Went north from Lusk to Newcastle and then over the hills to Deadwood and back to Sturgis. Seen lots of pretty country. Didn’t realize there were so many rocky outcroppings along that way. Snapped quite a few pictures along the way. Especially enjoyed the looks of the country at Chugwater.

  1. that’s some great country………worked south of Crawford at the old JX a number of years back………….

  2. I used to work cows for a friend near Guernsey, absolutely beautiful country. Worked a ranch that is now a National Guard reserve, so off limits today. Good pasture land too, so long as there’s decent rainfall. Lots of rock outcrops tho!

Next time you’re through that neck of the woods, swing through Sunrise – home of the oldest working bar in Wyoming, complete with a German carved cherry back bar – about 30′ long.

Looked at land (before I moved to ND) near Newcastle. People there were nice, but atypical for Wyoming – more toward the yuppie end of the scale.

Sounds like a nice trip – spent a lot of time in eastern WY, so this brought back a lot of memories for me.

      1. Brian? Brian? Who is this Brian of whom you speak?

I am Pathfinder, my real first name starts with G, not a B.

        GGGGG

      2. Sorry. When I checked the info that came with this comment, that is what it said your name was.
