Went to a branding at a neighbors yesterday morning and then right after lunch I took off to help my nephew and they guy he is working for, move some cattle up north of Belle Fourche. I’d never ridden in that country so it was fun. Spent the night then we branded two bunches at that ranch this morning. Sat up too late visiting last night so I am tired. Pictures to follow.
No wonder you are tired!
I’m tired just hearing it π
How far north of Belle Fourche? Not that far out of town and it looks to be pretty hard country.
Tired, but all in all I would guess a good day.
We were up by the Center of the Nation sign, on the west side of the road.
Your north of Belle?
Sounds like a good kind of tired to me. So tell us a bit more about the brandings, mostly good hands or a bunch of drunken gunsels? Head and heel, heels only or push em in a chute?
You didn’t comment on my dissertation on the two feet thread over at Kim’s.
Mike
Mike, they were all kinds. Several tie downs. Drug them out and wrassled them. Rubber on the horns. Hard, fast and arrogant .
As you know I’ve never branded anything (other than my tack with a mini), but from what I have read sure seems like head and heel is a much better deal. It sounds like most times it might be faster and certainly easier on the stock. I under stand time = money but hurt or stressed out stock = -money. Heck sometimes slow is fast anyhow.
Dang here a say you didn’t comment and then I go look again and there it is. shrug
