Well, I made it! Had a great time and saw some old friends and met some new ones. Got to be an outrider and help with a stagecoach. Actually, a mudwagon, which is a lighter, smaller version and when we crossed the Cheyenne River with it, the passangers found out why it’s called a mudwagon! I took my camera, but didn’t take one picture. Just too busy, and besides, we models are there for the artists to take pictures of and they pay a fee for that privledge. I’m sure no one would have said anything to me, but I still feel it’s my job and I get paid to work, not take pictures.
We have to ultra sound heifers tomorrow and I still have a lot of stuff to unload so I better get to it. Just wanted to check in. Hope all is well with all of you. I can say I missed my blogs while I was gone. Hope no major news events went by that I needed to comment on! LOL
I have heard about this Artist’s Ride. Some people that I went to school with have ridden in it. It sounds like a great time for everyone. Is Dan Deuter still involved with it?
Dan no longer has any thing to do with it any more, tho’ he was there last year as a model and artist.
Where are you at? We lived in South Dakota for four years when I was in high school and I got started cowboying there in the Interior and Badlands area. I went to school in Interior for a couple of years and a couple of years in High School in Kadoka. That was some nice country up there and I learned alot from some good hands. After we moved, I never made it back up there except for a couple of quick trips. After college, I copboyed in Colorado, Utah and a short time in Nevada. I like the looks of the saddles you are making. How do you like using the Laporte trees?
I am not familiar with an artist ride, so if you would fill me in! Also, missed your stories, glad to have you back!
We are about 50 miles north of Wasta, up north of Hiway 34, Terry.
I really like the LaPort’s. I have been trying to prove they won’t work for a long time, and so far haven’t been able to do so. My son and I both ride one with a cable rigging.
