We ended up with .60 hundreds of rain. If we’d get that much every week, we sure would have a good year. Wish I could send some to all those who need it.

Gabe is staying with us for a fgew days while his Mom is off going to a graduation  of a nephew, so we saddled up Beaver for Gabe last evening and give him some practice. Gabe and I had went to Rapid for a funeral and to get a new window put in the back of my pickup. Chance and I were driving back from a branding a week or two ago when a rock flew up and broke the back window out. We taped plastic over it, but it was noisy and you couldn’t see out. Nice to have it fixed.

While in Rapid, I got Gabe a pair of boots. I hate kids riding in tie on shoes as I always worry about them hanging up and getting drug from a horse. Most folks forget that boot like I wear were made to realease you if you do get hung to a horse. It’s one of my greatest fears.

I had a man get in touch with me who is a distant relative of Manuel Coy, an old Spaniard who came to this country in the trail drive days. I’d written a poem about him and this person had found it. Very interesting to learn more about Manuel. I need to write a new one now and update it!

There was supposed to be one last branding tomorrow but the guy postponed it as there is a good chance of rain the next couple days. We will just do them later, in another week or so.

  1. Well it looks like you all had a good time and got the work done. Kind of a treeless country aint it?

  2. So how in the world did you move this from where I posted it to here? And trees are Gods gift to cowboys
